I wonder how many years to be exact. I am going to go Google.

Thank you for supporting my site :)

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

"The Playstation 3 on its end had to defend itself with fanboy ramblings, turning gamers into amateur developers with more insight than the professionals."... "Fanboys to media though, have used these exclusives as reference to prove that the PS3 was more powerful, and better overall." That entire paragraph is about how ignorant he feels PS3 supporters are. No criticism of Xbox gamers whatsoever, " For Xbox 360 gamers it was just another worthy game that proved why they owned their system of choice." completely ignoring the console wars gamers thay behaved the same way, but supported the 360. So if we read between the lines the writer is basically saying people that supported the PS3 and defended it were/are ignorant, and those that play 360 wouldn't involve themselves because they knew better than that. I call this analysis a hypocritical delusion of a 360 fanboy.

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

I certainly hope they don't. But when specs like a Radeon HD 7970 are touted, you can bet good money they won't be cheaper than the current gen at launch.
Like I said in my comment, I think 3GB is excessive, but I've been thinking about it for the past day. Assuming that MS wants to take over the living room, like they've been saying, STB/PVR functionalities could be integrated and datastream recording and converting in the background could be possible. Only then would this require so much RAM (if multiple multimedia apps would be running in the background and video encoding would take place).
DDR3 can be used for graphics, quite well actually as GDDR4 and 5 are based off of it, but modified for larger data transfers (more bandwith). You'd only have slightly longer loading times to put the data into RAM, but performance graphically probably wouldn't be much different because of the larger memory pool (8GB versus 4) and faster access times: Pop-in and tearing on the DDR3 system would actually be less than the GDDR5 system (when the framebuffer is full, which would be more likely the case with 4GB of address space). That's why I think those specs are so strange. It doesn't make sense to have 4GB GDDR5 for the entire system when the competitor has 8GB DDR3.

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

Why a playstation hater? Because he said it wouldn't be better?

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

GDDR5 and DDR3 are two completely different types of ram.

Example, I have a Laptop (Asus G74SX) with 12Gb of DDR3 Memory (RAM) and 3GB GDDR5 Memory (VRAM)

You need both. Therefore that statement above hold no clause.

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

1st of all John the next gen consoles are extremely unlikely to release at $599+. 2nd Why would a console need 3GB of ram to hold an OS unless its going to be the complete windows 8 os. (Why would I want a PC OS on my gaming console? Its for gaming I have a PC for everything else.) 3rd I will not believe that Microsoft would use only DDR3 in their console. I assume that part of it (3GB for OS) is DDR3 and the rest is either GDDR4 or 5. We shall see what they can do and make our decisions when games come out.

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

More speculative crap based on specs that haven't been announced. :P

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

A classic fanboy ramble.

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

PS FTW !!!

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

I just want to say, I want a console number that won't break down or freeze or crap out on my money. Dependable with performance...Great logo I would say for xbox or playstation. Graphics RAM has much higher latencies because the texture and model pool is usually static during a game and when things are loaded into the graphics RAM it's usually during the loading breaks in a game. The high bandwith it provides is also not for the entire system (in the PC at least) If you want to use this for system purposes, when latencies are typically about 3 times as long as normal DDR, then that's going to cause slow downs in other areas, especially when you consider MS is going to dedicate 3GB for the OS and everything in it (which seems way too much to me as not even Windows 8 uses that much with all its background processes and redundancy/overhead), meaning everything the system provides would be readlily available at the touch of a button. If that were the same for the PS4 it would bottleneck itself with only 1GB left for the games.
I'd much rather have a system that can access the data in RAM faster (DDR3) than can move the data around faster (GDDR5).
Personally I think most of these specs are made up in part to sound interesting as there are many conflicting news bulletins around the internet. Besides, a system averaging around 1,5TFLOPS isn't groundbreaking in current PC land. So let's just wait and see when all becomes official.
And I agree, it's all fanboy fuel, mostly for the PlayStation side as they stand to lose everything looking at Sony's current financial woes. A $150 Billion in debt with a credit rating set to JUNK makes the PS4 Sony's last stand. The strongest system also doesn't sell the most persé (look at the Wii e.g.), especially if it launches at $599+.

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

i hate fan boys, consoles always had there advantages and disadvantages and always will do. just by one or the other and be happy with it or even buy both

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

It does sound like it's a dash defensive (from an Xbox perspective), but the information that's presented is balanced, and the author's having a red hot crack at not falling into the fanboy trap (although the reference to Sony and Move shows a lack of understanding of gaming history (there's a good article on Eurogamers talking about how it was well under development before the Wii was announced) - the Sixaxis though was definitely defensive copying on their part, and the omission of any reference to smartglass suggests they may not be able to see when Microsoft is riffing off Nintendo ;)). For me, I'm more concerned about the direction MS has been taking in recent years and looks to be taking, away from 'core' gaming towards a casual multi-function device (the rumours of 3GB of memory for RAM smell a lot like they'll be getting Windows 8 in there (it's a _huge_ amount of memory for a console OS), in some form or other - I don't want Win 8 on my PC and I sure as hell don't want it on my console) - but either way I'm sure both devices will have great games and provide great times, just like both HD consoles this generation :).

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

Or just a playstation hater to be more accurate

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

I picked one random paragraph and it's obvious that the writer is an xbox fanboy himself. lol

Re: Playstation 4 vs Xbox Next: Do Leaked Specs Call A Winner Already?

Going with the one that does more than just Games no matter how nice they are.

Re: Ouya Unboxing: The Open Source Console Generation Begins

can it play Minecraft if so this will be mine if not then i doubt it'd be worth my time.

Re: Skyrim & Kinect Voice Command Will Bring The Masses

great, now do something that benefits PS3 players.

Robert J. We are not a video
game, but real time geo-location games played on your smart phone (app) with true
video-like game features. You can visit us at:
